The mixed-use development includes 44 residential units and 13,500-square-feet of ground floor retail space. Amenities include roof top terraces and a gym and community room in the basement. An on-site bicycle storage room will provide storage for 44 bicycles.

The subterranean garage is equipped with a 62-space 2-high, 1-deep tandem Semi-Automated Lift-Slide Puzzle Parking system. This will be the largest semi-automated parking system in Boston.

The PARKPLUS Lift-Slide Puzzle Parking System is a multi-level customizable solution for storing cars in vertical and horizontal arrays. The hybrid stacking system consists of a self-supporting structural framework, that can be building-integrated, and independent platforms for self-park storage and retrieval.

Boston firm Stefanov Architects, a full-service architectural design firm specializing in residential, mixed-use, restaurant, and light commercial buildings, designed 457 West Broadway. Principal, Douglas Stefanov, notes, “the two main reasons that the Lift-Slide Parking system is so beneficial to our development are, firstly, it provides a much higher density of parking in an urban area, where land is a premium; we have the need to provide ample parking for the occupants while conserving land use. Secondly, the land saved by using the parking machines is much better utilized by commercial space, which is requested by the City and desired by the developers, especially on the ground level of major roads on which the development resides.”

“We have been working with PARKPLUS on a few other projects, we are well underway on 30 Penniman Road in Allston, MA which has 38 spaces in a one down two up lift-slide machine and we are in Design Development at 267 Old Colony Avenue, South Boston which is planned to have 60 cars in a two down and two up lift-slide assembly,” says Stefanov.
