The PARKPLUS California office has recently expanded its facility to account for the growth of the business. The West Coast business has seen exponential growth since Michael O’Bryan moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to open the office. Each project has typically seen similar zoning and planning code hurdles due to difficulty in outdated parking design guideline regulations from the 1970’s.

In an effort to streamline this process, PARKPLUS California wrote an addendum outlining and guiding the integration of mechanical parking into Parking Lot design guidelines for the City of Los Angeles. O’Bryan worked closely the Department of Building and Safety’s Shahim Akelyan.

In addition to zoning and planning, the Los Angeles Fire Department began looking at the increasing number of projects in PlanCheck and decided they needed their own guidelines on Fire Department access and protection of these types of mechanical systems in Los Angeles.

PARKPLUS worked with LAFD’s Chief Kerbert and Captain Milick to develop a new set of Fire Protection guideline for mechanical parking structures.
